Women in the media

Volunteers are wanted for "The Global Media Monitoring Project" — a project which aims to record the roles and representation of women in radio, television and newspaper news on one chosen "ordinary" day in our lives, January 18, 1995.

The project was initiated out of the Women Empowering Communication Conference held in Bangkok in 1994, and now has an enthusiastic commitment from women in more than 40 countries, according to the organisers.

Organisers are calling for anyone interested in participating to register now. So if you're dying to spend next January 18 watching and listening to women in the news, call them on (02) 389 5478, or fax (02) 550 6734, or write to Janice Bagot, Australian coordinator, PO Box 3135, Tamarama NSW 2026.
