Who was that?

Issue

A Green Left seller in Sydney reports she was given an anonymous donation last week. While she was selling to another buyer near Town Hall in the centre of the city, the unknown man slipped a $50 note into her hand, took a paper and quickly disappeared.

Who was this anonymous friend of Green Left? Perhaps we'll never know. One thing for certain is that he's not the only one.

Green Left has many friends across the country. Friends who will give an extra 50 cents when they buy a paper; friends who regularly make a donation when they renew their subscription; friends who make regular donations on a weekly, monthly or annual basis.

Green Left is highly appreciative of our friends. We and they know that, without them, things would be far more difficult.

Green Left does not receive any government subsidy or business support. We don't make enough to support the paper from sales alone. We rely on the donations of those who support the paper to ensure survival.

Next time you buy a paper or renew your subscription, please consider if you can't do a little more for Green Left. Whether it's the extra 50 cents, or the extra $50, every bit counts in building the alternative. Green Left Weekly — it's your newspaper. n
