Venezuelan revolution 'the answer to humanity's crisis'

Issue

Venezuelan charge d'affaires Nelson Davila was the feature speaker at a seminar and film showing co-sponsored by the Australia-Venezuela Solidarity Network and the Australia Cuba Friendship Society on August 11. More than 60 people attended the event, which discussed the gains of the Venezuelan revolution and its impact on the struggle for social justice throughout Latin America.

"The Venezuelan revolution is an answer to the two major crises facing humanity — the world environmental crisis and the global human crisis of poverty and war", Davila argued. He pointed out that the revolution's goal of "socialism of the 21st century" means the complete transformation of the nation into a participatory, protagonist and socialist democracy.
