PERTH — More than 200 people crammed into the Maritime Union of Australia's North Fremantle office on October 29 to hear discussion about how to fight the Howard government's proposed industrial relations laws. Speakers included former Australian Manufacturing Workers Union Victorian secretary Craig Johnston, WA Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union secretary Kevin Reynolds, Victorian MUA secretary Kevin Bracken and WA MUA secretary Chris Cain. While the majority of the crowd were from the MUA, there were also large contingents from the CFMEU, AMWU, the Socialist Alliance and other activists.
