GEELONG — On January 18, the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union's (construction division) opened its new Victorian branch office in the presence of 400 members and guests.

The new premises will also be home to the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (AMWU) and the furniture trade division of the CFMEU. The union's "fighting lawyers", Slater and Gordon, will also offer full time legal assistance to members from the new office.

Brendan Murphy, the CFMEU's Geelong organiser said the new office was "a big step forward for militant unionism in Geelong. To have the AMWU and the CFMEU under the one roof will provide a much better service".
