A Sydney coalition of union activists, combining the Defend Workers Rights and Unions Coalition and the newly-formed Union Activists Network, distributed thousands of leaflets at meetings across NSW on July 1, calling on Unions NSW to set another mass meeting at a single metropolitan venue on the day the anti-union legislation is tabled in federal parliament, and to organise mass meetings within 24 hours of any action being taken against any union or union official.

The groups are jointly organising a meeting on July 16 at 4pm at Sydney's Gaelic Club. For more information, Phone Susan on 0400 320 602.

In Brisbane, the Defend Our Unions Committee distributed a call to the June 30 rally for mass cross-union delegates' meetings to discuss and organise an ongoing campaign; a national stoppage and rally on August 10; and coordinated solidarity action to support any union or group of workers singled out for attack.

The committee has called a public forum to discuss future action against the anti-union laws on July 7 at 6.30pm, in the Trades and Labour Council building, 16 Peel Street, South Brisbane.
