Twinfish is a dynamic indie band from the south coast of NSW. Guitarist/songwriter Marco Verdugo and singer/songwriter Tracy Verdugo form the core of the band. With Nick Guggisberg on drums, the band delivers powerful and emotive original material with passion and soul.

Their second EP, Happy Accidents, was released in November 2003. "Overboard" deals with the government's blatant manipulation of the Tampa incident. According to their CD and website: "Twinfish would like to acknowledge and support all refugees who have come to this country in search of freedom and to condemn the callous acts of our current government who imprison innocent people in detention camps, remove some of them from their children and treat them as if the act of seeking freedom is a crime. We all want a better life for our children, a life based on love and not fear.

"We ask the question; why is it not a crime for a government to lie to its people and manipulate media for its own political gain, while imprisoning fellow humans that, given time and support, can benefit and enrich our lives and communities?"

Twinfish is performing at the Basement in Sydney on October 19, as part of a Club Acoustica showcase. Mention to one of the performers that you read about the show in Green Left Weekly, and they will give you a complimentary CD with the song "Overboard" on it.
