Thousands rally on Hiroshima Day

Issue

Rallies marking the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing took place in cities around Australia on August 6, including in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Perth. As well as opposing nuclear power and uranium mining, the protesters demanded an end to Israel's war on Lebanon and Palestine and called for an end to the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. Rallies were also held in Adelaide and Newcastle on August 5. Pictured is the Sydney protest.
