Tax workers demand union agreement

Issue

MELBOURNE — As of October 18, 11,475 employees of the Australian Taxation Office, 53% of all ATO staff, have signed a petition calling on management to negotiate a new agency agreement with the Community and Public Sector Union when the current agreement expires on June 30, 2006. The CPSU organised the petition because of concerns that ATO management, responding to the government's anti-union agenda, would push for a non-union agreement and/or individual contracts.
