Solidarity with Chiapas

Issue

Pickets organised by Committees in Solidarity with Latin America and the Caribbean and the Brisbane Zapatista Front were held at Mexican consulates in Sydney and Brisbane on February 28. The Mexican government has refused to honour the Accord on Indigenous Rights and Culture, signed with the Zapatista Army of National Liberation a year ago. In Brisbane, the protesters marched to Queen Street Mall for a speak-out. In Sydney, solidarity activist Robbie Casey ended a 10-day hunger strike in support of peace in Chiapas.
