Review by Mike Byrne

Torch Song Trilogy takes us through the emotional ups and downs of Arnold Beckoff (Colin Norris) in his search for love and acceptance.

When he meets school teacher Ed (Greg Hood), his quest seems over. But Arnold's new-found happiness is short-lived because Ed is firmly in the closet. Ed soon has a new partner, Laurel (Kirrillie Bridgland), who is aware of Ed's "other relationships" but joins him in his denial.

The play follows the fortunes and interactions between Ed, Laurel, Arnold and his new partner Alan (Schanin Deschamps). It explores homophobia, within the family and the community.

Torch Song Trilogy is a poignant play, just in time to launch Brisbane's Pride Week festivities.
