Revolution

Just days before the October demonstrations against corporate tyranny, socialist youth from across the country will be gathering in the Victorian town of Anglesea for the 30th Resistance national conference. The conference will discuss the next actions of the anti-corporate movement.

The September 28-30 conference is themed: Revolution...Bring it on. A different world is possible. An Indonesian youth leader from the Student League For Democracy in Indonesia (LMND) and Antonio Lopez from the Timorese Socialist Party will give feature presentations.

James Vassilopoulos, a member of the Democratic Socialist Party, will present an eyewitness report from the Genoa protests against the G8 summit. US socialist Dani Barley will analyse the growth of the student anti-sweatshop campaign.

Activist training sessions will discuss protester's legal rights and practice blockading, public speaking and creative dissent.

Conference organiser Bronwyn Jennings said, "The development of the international movement against corporate globalisation, which Resistance has been centrally involved in, opens many doors for radical politics in this country. The conference will be an important opportunity for young people to further put a spanner in the works of the corporate elite."
