Reclaim the Night in Darwin

DARWIN — Speakers from the East Timorese community, the Aboriginal community and the university women's collective addressed the Reclaim the Night rally on October 29. The theme of the rally, organised by the Ruby Gaea Centre and attended by about 300 women, was "Proud to be Loud". Chaired by Alison Mills from the Larrikia Association, it heard endorsements and messages of solidarity from all over Australia. Women then marched to the Workers Club for a dance, a fundraiser for the Women's Embassy. Pictured is the Reclaim the Night Choir. Photo by Deb Sorensen.
