FBI on Air? — FBI (Free Broadcast Inc) is a new non-profit organisation which hopes to be granted a radio licence in Sydney. It will focus on being an outlet for local talent in music, performance and comedy as well as public affairs programs and community debate. FBI is seeking new members. Women Out Loud — Each program in September will feature a report from the UN conference on women in Beijing. ABC Radio National, each Saturday, 5.05pm (repeated and updated each Wednesday, 2.05pm).
Rabbits and Spaghetti — In all the hoopla over the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II, and all the horror stories of how Australian POWs were treated, little has been said about those POWs imprisoned here. Part of this program looks at the Italian POWs captured in North Africa who were held in Australia. ABC Radio National, Sunday, September 3, 2.05pm (repeated Thursday, August 7, 2.05pm).
Vince Jones Live — Renowned jazz musician and Green Left Weekly sponsor Vince Jones caught live with the inimitable Tim Hopkins on sax. ABC Radio National, Sunday, September 3, 4.05pm.
ABC Newsradio/Parliamentary and News Network — Australia's first 24-hour all-news network is a very useful source of information for busy activists. When parliament is not being broadcast, PNN has regular headline updates, Australian news and world news segments. Programs of most interest include: Network Asia, 12.10pm (all times Eastern Time) daily; Radio Australia's International Report, 4.30pm, 8.30pm and 10.30pm daily; BBC Newsday, 3pm daily; BBC World News, 5am, 5pm, 8pm and 11pm daily; and every night after midnight, Radio Australia broadcasts until 5am. PNN frequencies are: Canberra 1440AM; Sydney 630AM; Newcastle 1458AM; Melbourne 1026AM; Brisbane 936AM; Adelaide 972AM; Perth 585AM; Hobart 729AM.
