Hundreds protested outside Labor MP Ged Kearney’s office on January 18 to demand she speaks up for an end to Israel's genocide in Gaza.
Despite Kearney's historical support for Palestine, she has still refused to sign an open letter — signed by more than 200 current and former MPs — which calls for a permanent ceasefire and an end to Israel's occupation.
The organisers demanded that Kearney join other MPs in signing the APAN-endorsed statement, which also calls on Labor to provide free healthcare to Gazans arriving in the country on visitors’ visas.
Protesters marched from Kearney’s office on High Street with a large Palestinian flag to the Preston City Hall. The gesture was to support councillors resisting a push by two Greens and one Labor councillor to stop flying the Palestinian flag.
