Perth to protest Bush visit

PERTH — At its meeting on September 18 the Perth No War Alliance decided to change its planned October 25 protest, in order to hold a protest coinciding with the visit to Australia of US President George Bush.

The new demonstration will be in solidarity with the planned protests in Sydney and Canberra. Alliance activists argued that the protest will fall in close proximity to the October 25 anti-war protests in the United States, and would still be part of the international actions to end the occupation of Iraq.

Protesters ware now planning to gather at 5pm in Forrest Place on the day Bush arrives in Australia, and then to march to the US consulate. For more information ph (08) 9218 9608. The next Perth No War Alliance meeting will be held on October 2, at 6.30pm at Unity House, 79 Stirling Street, Perth.
