NTEU-CFMEU solidarity at UNSW

Issue

SYDNEY — On August 17, the University of NSW branch of the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) hosted a barbecue for members of the construction union (CFMEU) working on the university's North Mall construction site.

Up to 100 UNSW staff joined about 80 construction workers for the solidarity lunch, which was organised to build support between the two unions for the fight against the federal government's anti-union industrial relations agenda.

The event was addressed by NSW CFMEU construction division assistant secretary Brian Parker and NTEU NSW secretary Chris Game.

Plans are now underway for another joint CFMEU-NTEU solidarity event at UNSW in the lead-up to the October 25 ACTU national day of union action.
