Chilean President Patricio Aylwin was met by a vigorous protest by members of the Chilean exile community and their supporters on his October 5 visit to Sydney Town Hall. The main demand of the demonstrators was "No to impunity", referring to moves by Aylwin's government to grant immunity from prosecution to torturers and murderers active during the dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet. Several of the protesters were arrested. Photo by Gail Lord.
