Racist Attacks on Aboriginal building

NEWCASTLE — The new Mindaribba Local Lands Council building in Metford has been the target of racist attacks in the past six weeks.

In the first incident, which occurred around the time of Pauline Hanson's visit to nearby Newcastle on May 30, a noose was found hanging from the front doors of the building. In the days before the building's July 8 opening, pictures of white hoods and the letters KKK were found painted on the building.

Worksafe threatens WA unions

PERTH — Worksafe, the WA government's workplace health and safety body, will refuse to respond to reports of safety breaches — if they are reported by unions. This outrageous statement was made by Worksafe director Neil Bartholomeus, a day or two after WA unions' "Day of Defiance", during which construction unions staged a protest at the Worksafe office.

The WA TLC has said that it will assist unions in shutting down unsafe job sites if Worksafe will not.
