New Palestine solidarity group

SYDNEY — The new Coalition for Justice and Peace in Palestine will be launched on April 2 at the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) offices in Lidcombe, Palestinian activist and CJPP convener Jamal Daoud told Green Left Weekly on March 23. "Our aims include working with others for a just peace in Palestine, an end to the apartheid policies of the Israeli government, demolition of the apartheid wall, respect for human rights in the region, justice in Palestine and increased awareness of Palestinian issues in the wider Australian community", he said.

The launch will coincide with the 30th commemoration of Palestinian Land Day, when Israeli troops killed six Palestinian citizens of Israel in the Galilee during peaceful protests over confiscation of Palestinian land. Speakers at the launch will include Greens Senator Kerry Nettle, NSW CFMEU secretary Andrew Ferguson and Palestinian author Nejmeh Khalil-Habib.
