BRISBANE — On March 11, former NSW Builders Labourers Union secretary Jack Mundey addressed a meeting attended by 72 plumbers to discuss the Howard government's planned anti-union legislation.

Mundey told Green Left Weekly, "The important fight is not after July, it will be in the next few months. We need to put pressure on the ACTU to speak out and act to stop Howard's anti-union legislation. We need to wage a struggle against this bill, like we did in the days of the green bans and the massive movement against the Vietnam War".

Plumbers' union state organiser Brad O'Carroll told GLW: "This important information meeting was designed to inform plumbers that the conditions they have now, were not given by the boss, they were fought for and have to be protected."
