More congratulations on GLW's 200th issue

As a Cuban I am very satisfied with Green Left Weekly. Firstly because it is a weekly that reflects objectively the social, political, economic and cultural situation in Cuba. Secondly because in the framework of the international movement it has consistently been in solidarity with Cuba.

Marcelino Fajardo, Consul of Cuba, Sydney

I admire Green Left Weekly particularly because it raises women's issues and general issues of harassment and discrimination that the mainstream media misses. It gives good coverage to Aboriginal and reconciliation issues, and most recently its coverage of the Indonesian democratic movement, including the arrests of Dita Sari and seven others.

Sandy Bird, Perth

On behalf of the FMLN in Australia I would like to congratulate the editors of Green Left Weekly on reaching 200 issues of a newspaper with which we closely identify. All the best for the future.

Salvador Nunez, Coordinator FMLN in Australia

Congratulations to the Green Left Weekly team for their continuing efforts and ability to bring us alternative news, information and analysis of important local and international events.

Diana McTiernen, industrial officer, Construction, Forestry, Mining and Engineering Union, Perth

Green Left Weekly gives the little person's perspective. When you look at the Age or the Herald Sun, they try to manipulate the reader. GLW has a point of view, of course, but it doesn't try to manipulate the reader. When GLW looks at Australian issues or issues from overseas, it's the people and not just a journalist speaking.

Showel Brennan, SRC Secretary and Women's Rep, Victorian University of Technology, Melton

Congratulations on reaching this milestone in the paper's history. It is a credit to those who put so much effort into maintaining an informative and alternative viewpoint. To all those behind the scenes, and to those on the streets, keep up the good work. Once again, congratulations on GLW's 200th edition.

Geordie Gorogo, Canberra

Australia East Timor Association (AETA) NSW congratulates Green Left Weekly on your 200 issue. Thanks for all your excellent reporting on the East Timor issue and your ongoing support for AETA. All too often you put the mainstream press to shame.

Gil Scrine, Convener AETA NSW

We congratulate Green Left Weekly on its 200th issue and hope that it will be even more helpful and instructive to the working class in the future.

Edith Leonard and Neil Gray, Perth

Congratulations to Green Left Weekly for its 200th edition! It is a tribute to the writers, editors, publishers, sponsors, distributors and readership of Green Left. Green Left is a vital voice in Australia, where media diversity is fast becoming extinct. On women's issues Green Left has consistently broadened the public debate, whereas other media outlets have only sensationalised the issues to sell their copy.

Unna Liddy, Children by Choice, Brisbane

Green Left Weekly is the best non-establishment newspaper not only in Australia, but perhaps also in Europe. Activists of any sort would be lost without it. I look forward to every issue!

Lou Gugenberger, Queensland Greens

With the mainstream media drifting further to the right, it is a relief to find the intelligent alternative that is Green Left Weekly. Information to counter the glut of misinformation.

Gerard Renehan, member of RAT TV, community TV Channel 31, Melbourne

The WA South African Solidarity Group congratulates Green Left Weekly on its excellent coverage of South Africa and international solidarity. GLW plays a critical role in linking working-class people and struggle across the world and is in high demand in South Africa.

Mark Newhouse, WASAS

In these difficult times it is vital to have independent, alternative sources of information. Thanks for your comprehensive coverage of Public Sector issues, and congratulations on the double-ton! Keep up the good work.

Derek Macpherson, Community and Public Sector Union National Councillor, Melbourne

Considering all the dogmatic, contrived, sanctimonious and compromising offal persistently paraded before the populace's senses, the Green Left Weekly provides reassurance and comfort for those in their never ending struggles against the narcissistic beau monde. Let us release our children from the shackles of nintendos, reeboks, Coca-Cola and the Michael Jordans, and demand the Green Left Weekly on their curriculum. Congratulations to all and stay gold.

John Da Silva, Organiser, AMIEU (WA branch)

Congratulations to the 200th issue of Green Left Weekly! Green Left Weekly is a great boost in the Australian people's struggle and in the struggles of peoples in various parts of the world.
We are proud that the Philippine movement has always been part of your international coverage. Our organization, a mass federation of various people's organizations in the Philippines, will be publishing soon a newspaper for the democratic movement in the Philippines. Green Left Weekly is showing us the way.
