Move now!

By Brandon Astor Jones

"God established a patriarchal society. Period. The husband must be the head of the home in a husband-wife situation. And men are the predominant leaders in history and men are the predominant warriors ... and the feminists cannot change history and they cannot change reality." — Randall Terry

At least half of the world's households are not so easily defined. Moreover, if you are a left-wing activist and/or thinker — no matter what gender, race or cultural agendas you might have for the long run — it is time to set our intra-left-misunderstandings aside, stop our bickering and unite against the right wing horde that is upon us. Immediately.

The quote above by the anti-abortion movement's unofficial leader should scare all of us out of our seemingly endless intra-left squabbles all around the globe. For while we nitpick and harass one another's initiatives he and his kind are mounting a dangerous movement that is worldwide in scope. It does not matter if you live in North America, Australia, Amsterdam or Rio de Janeiro: they are well funded and organised.

For example, if you perform legal abortions, they are known to take a shotgun or pistol and shoot you to death. It is that simple. They do not tolerate opinions that differ from their own. Worse is yet to come. They are training their children to hate before they learn how to go to the potty.

The Reverend Matt Trewhella, speaking to a group recently, said, "I want you to buy each of your children an SKS rifle and 500 rounds of ammunition". As you ponder why so many US children kill one another, consider this: Trewhella wants to replace the traditional children's game called "pin the tail on the donkey" with his own blindfold game. He said, "We need to start blindfolding them, sitting them down on the living room floor and say now put the weapon together. Those are the types of games we need to play." The coming generations of Terrys and Trewhellas are very likely to make their fathers seem tame by comparison.

If yours is not a Christian, European, heterosexual traditional family unit adhering to Terry's dogmatic brand of thinking he and/or his terrorist groups or individuals will just blow your head off while you are in front of an abortion clinic or some other similar facility that does not meet with his or the Christian right's approval.

It is time to join forces in our collective efforts to do good things — yes, of course, we are right to fight against racism, sexism and for a cleaner/healthier environment in every way we can. As an African-American, I will be the first to say all of those are extremely important issues. Nevertheless, it is my opinion that right now the rising tide of the Christian right's marauding sweep across the globe is by far much more important and immediate. If we wait much longer all those other issues will be, at best, moot points. Unite, and move now![The writer is a prisoner on death row in the United States.
