Labour Movement Incorporated

Bored with the nine to five? Tired of the office or the factory floor? Want more money? Are you looking for an exciting career in business or the media? If you can answer yes to these questions, then we have the answer for you! Join us at Labour Movement Incorporated.

Did you know that LMI has a recognised intermeshed career structure with Channel Nine, senior law firms and the consulting industry?

Many of our trainees prefer to launch their new careers via the industrial relations club before moving on to the parliamentary club. Here you can relax, dine, serve and impress your prospective future employers.

Recent successes include:

  • Bob Hawke, former ACTU president and prime minister, now a proud employee of Channel Nine.

  • Graham Richardson, former NSW Labor Party secretary, senator and environment minister and now a proud employee of Channel Nine, joining a number of former union colleagues with Mr Packer.

  • Michael Easson, former NSW Labor Council secretary, now picking up retainers from law firms and other businesses.

  • John Ducker, former NSW Labor Council secretary and part-time snitch to ASIO, now a successful industrial relations consultant: "I probably got more out of the conversations [than ASIO did]".

Many other current leaders of LMI are planning their career transfer into the more lucrative private sector.

Let those successful speak for themselves.

Michael Easson, announcing his latest career move on May 19: "The labour movement doesn't owe me anything. I've done pretty well out of it to the extent that I'm employable in the future".

Graham Richardson noted on May 20: "It's no secret that I have long hoped to build a career in the media, and I'm thrilled to be working for the best".

A continuing commitment to privatisation by LMI will ensure more positions for the ambitious well into the future.

Who should apply? Qualifications: Membership of the Australian Labor Party — essential. Membership of a trade union — optional. Political commitment — undesirable and incompatible. Applicants should preferably be male, but we'll deny we said it if you complain. A strong drive for personal advancement is a must. The rewards are ample for the right people.
