How to get active this week

October 23, 2015
Join the Reclaim the Night marches to demand an end to violence against women.

Come to a screening of No Free Steps to Heaven. An Israeli journalist who visited Kurdish freedom fighters in Iraqi and Syrian Kurdistan filmed this documentary. Presented by the Socialist Alliance and Green Left Weekly. Entry $10/$5. Friday October 30 at 7pm, meal from 6.30pm. Resistance Centre, Level 5, 407 Swanston St, city. Phone 9639 8622.

Join the protest outside Transfield's AGM. Transfield is about to sign a new five-year, $2.7 billion contract to run detention centres on Manus Island and Nauru. Condemn Transfield's profiting from abuse and misery and call on it to cancel the contract. Organised by the Refugee Action Coalition Sydney. Wednesday October 28 at 12pm. Sydney Mint, 10 Macquarie St, Sydney.

Be a part of the Reclaim the Night marches across the country at the end of October. Reclaim the Night is an annual, international march to protest against gendered violence. Marches are being held in various cities. To find out which is the closest one to you, see the Activist Calendar on page 23.
