SYDNEY — About 30 people attended a vibrant high school speak-out in Town Hall Square on September 7, organised by Resistance. The theme was "Fight for global justice". Activists endured the rain to hear from speakers on topics including Cuba, Nike, Indonesia and indigenous rights. Demands were made for the IMF, World Bank, WTO and WEF to be abolished, for the refugees to be released and for cancellation of all third world debt. There was a vote on whether Bill Gates should rule the world, or the speak-out's demands be met. The vote was unanimous for the latter and was followed by three cheers for Cuba and Fidel Castro. Resistance high school students vowed to continue the fight against corporate tyranny.
