Griffith students unite for better conditions

By Justin Randell

BRISBANE — An upgrade of computer facilities, tutorial sizes capped at 15, free child-care, better security on campus, abolition of library fines and an end to academic job losses — these are some of issues that students at Griffith University will take up in a new campaign for better campus conditions.

The campaign, launched at a meeting of 60 students on March 15, grew out of student responses to a survey, circulated by members of the Campus Conditions Collective since the start of semester.

The March 15 meeting resolved to refine and research the demands further and to organise a large student meeting on April 5, where the demands will be put to the university's vice-chancellor, along with a deadline for action.

Adam Baker, Resistance activist and the Student Representative Council's (SRC) co-education officer, called the meeting "a big and important first step".

For more information about the Campus Conditions Collective, contact the Griffith University SRC or come along to the collective meetings, every Wednesday at noon at the SRC office.
