Film slams police harassment

By Sean Healy

PERTH — A new community-produced film, slamming the treatment of young people at the hands of Perth police, particularly through the infamous "Operation Sweep", will be launched on Friday, May 6.

The film, entitled Malbara: Youth Life on the Streets, will be shown at 7.30pm at the Film and Television Institute, 92 Adelaide Street, Fremantle. It will be preceded by a march through the streets of Fremantle from the Esplanade at 6.30pm as part of a community campaign against police harassment of young people.

The film and march are being organised by Colectiva and Resistance. For more information, call (09) 227 7367 or 319 2341.
