Why

Israel is now at war with Iran, Trump continues his deportations and has called the military in on civilian protestors, fighting between India and Pakistan keeps the region on edge and Albo just extended Woodside's North West Shelf out till 2070.

In this moment, the zeitgeist is one of war and chaos.

Come for a wee chat at Black Spark where three speakers will discuss these intersecting ruptures from three unique and compelling perspectives.

Timothy Ström's presentation is entitled 'Atomised Abyss: Unsettling Right Accelerationism'. His talk will provide some context for understanding right-accelerationism through the multidimensional structural crisis that begun at the end of WWII. In his view, this destabilization have given rise to right-accelerationism—as well as undermining the left's ability to provide meaningful alternatives—and demands critical and radical attention be paid to trying to understand the nature of the shifting ground.

Pratyush K. will discuss the rise of fascism in India, its broader historical roots in South Asia, what it looks like today and the response from the left. The occupation of Kashmir and the recent Indian-Pakistan mini war will be the backdrop for this discussions.

Leyla Hayal will present a decolonial-feminist perspective where she will investigate the psychologies, epistemologies and ethics of the unfurling chaos. In addition, she will critique the inadequacy of identity politics in its ability to respond to what's happening.
