Caracas comes to Armidale

Issue

ARMIDALE — The Armidale Club, a quiet little pub in rural NSW, was rocked by the sounds of revolution on May 11, when Friends of Green Left Weekly sponsored a screening of The Revolution Will Not be Televised.

About 30 people watched the inspiring documentary about the 2002 failed US-backed coup against Venezuela's socialist President Hugo Chavez, and many stayed on afterwards for hours of discussion about politics internationally and in Australia.

With the support of the club manager, GLW supporters are hoping to organise regular left-wing political film nights at the Armidale Club. To get involved, or for more information, email Bea Bleile at <bbleile@bigpond.net.au>.
