A cappella for peace

SYDNEY — The inspirational talents of three renowned a cappella choirs come together in a benefit concert for the International Volunteers for Peace on Saturday, November 12 at 8pm.

Cafe of the Gate of Salvation, Amazing Grace Bros and the Mudlarks will sing at the St Laurence Art Centre (505 Pitt Street), a beautifully restored church hall with amazing acoustics, in a night of passionate and soulful harmonies.

International Volunteers for Peace is an organisation promoting peace and understanding through voluntary community service around the world. This year its members have worked on conservation projects in Europe and the US, repaired a school in Nepal, restored graves and monuments in Namibia and assisted athletes with disabilities during annual games in Sydney.

A short address will be given by Bob Debus, former executive director of Community Aid Abroad. Tickets cost $15, $10 concession, and are available at the door. For more information, contact IVP on (02) 699 1129 or Serena Rix, (02) 904 1525.
