Buildings workers protest

Issue

MELBOURNE — On August 20, 1000 construction workers rallied outside the ACTU congress. Organised by the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, the rally called on the ACTU to support unions resisting the federal government's legislative attacks. The rally was addressed by representatives of the Victorian branches of other unions, including the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, the Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union, and the Maritime Union of Australia.
