Breathing

November 17, 1993

And in the Third World
people drop dead, as
heavy, dirty rain in a storm

And here, we dance
with effort
we sing
without song
they make us build their modern
space age buildings
without colour
we create
their paintings and gardens and
large billboard advertising
without care
we sleep
without rest
we eat and walk
without growth
we breathe career
and credit card debt

And the Third World
breathes Coke
