Behind the Veil — An intriguing glimpse into the relationships between men and women in the Islamic republic of Mauritania. SBS, Monday, August 12, 5pm.

Women of Islam — The first of three documentaries looking at women in Islamic societies around the world. Women present widely differing views on social issues which affect their lives. The first program hears from Muslim women from North Africa living in France. SBS, Monday, August 12, 7.30pm.

Father, Son and Holy War — An impressive two-part documentary that explores sectarian violence in India today and investigates the links between violence, religion and sexism. SBS, Tuesday, August 13, 8.30pm.

Poland: Cause for Alarm — In March 1993, Poland outlawed abortion. This documentary looks at women's personal accounts of the impact of this law on their lives. SBS, Wednesday, August 14, 8.30pm.
