@9point = Movie: Laada (1990) — Three young African men contemplate their lives in a small village. From Burkina Faso.

@9point = Documentary: The Last Bolshevik — First of a compelling two-part portrait of Russian director Alexander Medvedkin. The film maker's complex life is revealed, from his birth in 1900 through the October Revolution, the civil war, Stalin's reign and to his death in 1989 at the height of perestroika. SBS, Thursday, August 24, 8.30pm.
