She confronts the realities of the nation and its people, guiding viewers beyond the cliches and stereotypes that have dominated contemporary consciousness of Lebanon for nearly three decades. The film exposes the tragedies of the Lebanon war. SBS, Wednesday, September 20, 4pm.

Elephants or Ivory — Filmed in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Kenya, this thought-provoking BBC documentary examines the dilemmas faced by African countries with elephant populations. To save the African elephant from extinction, the ban on trade in ivory was imposed in 1989. Ten years later, it is to be lifted. Tragedy or triumph? The issues of over-population, culling, contraception and the expansion and destruction of human versus elephant habitat are explored in this fascinating program. SBS, Thursday, September 21, 1.30pm.
