Anti-racists ROAR!

By Kerryn Williams

CANBERRA — Local bands Smeg, Buttnugget, Tinnitus, Punchinello, Poinaz Dare, All Ords, Goons Hired Goons, Reign of Terror, Apathy, Alpha Team 1 and No Strings Attached will all be appearing at a mega anti-racism concert here on August 30.

The Rock Offensive Against Racism (ROAR), organised by Resistance, will kick off at 11am and rage until 11pm at the Civic Youth Cafe. Funds raised will help organise campaigns against racism, with a portion going to Green Left Weekly.

Resistance activist Will Williams explained: "We need to use whatever means we can to oppose the racism being peddled by Pauline Hanson and the Howard government, and to involve more and more people in actively campaigning against racism.

"ROAR will be a great way to draw together young people in Canberra who want to fight racism, and to build further actions against the racist policies of Hanson and Howard." For more information about ROAR, telephone Resistance on 247 2424.
