Anti-racists rally at Macquarie Uni

Issue

A rally on August 24, organised by the Macquarie University Students Against Racism Coalition, was attended by 100 students and staff angered by racist comments made to the media in July by Macquarie University academic Andrew Fraser. Speakers at the rally included the Greens' John Kaye; Ian Rintoul from the Refugee Action Coalition; Lamahz M. Bah, president of the African Communities Council; Noah Bassil, president of the Macquarie University Postgraduate Representative Association; and an activist from Fightdemback.com, a website that monitors neo-Nazi activity.
