To another year of resistance

For the regular readers, contributors and distributors of Green Left Weekly, the last month or so may have been a little more relaxing than usual, but it has also been frustrating.

While many workers tried to enjoy a well-earned break from the daily grind, the enemies of justice continued their onslaught — on Iraq and other Third World countries, on job security and the unemployed, on the environment, on indigenous rights, and so on, and Green Left Weekly was greatly missed.

We would have liked to have been there every week over Christmas, reporting the truth behind their "news", with information about antiwar, forest protection and other actions, and with the words of many activists who inspire us all to continue the struggle.

We hope that one day soon radical media like Green Left will have the resources to provide a voice for resistance to injustice not just every week of the year, but every day.

In the meantime, Green Left's recent absence makes us realise just how much we need it and inspires us to enter a new year with a renewed commitment to make this newspaper an even stronger voice for the people.

To do that, we need your help. Green Left Weekly's 1999 Fighting Fund, which makes the production of the paper possible, will be launched with fundraising events in all major cities very soon. You can make a direct donation to the fighting fund using the clip-off below and/or come along to one of these events, meet other supporters and help kick off a year of effective resistance to injustice.

Green Left Weekly — it's your paper.
