Against VSU in Brisbane

BRISBANE — The March 28 national day of action against voluntary student unionism here will begin at noon in King George Square, with a march to Parliament House. There will also be live entertainment on the Kidney Lawn at Garden's Point QUT campus following the rally.

With the Coalition now in power both federally and in Queensland, $171 million will be cut from the higher education budget, on top of the original decrease in spending by the Labor government.

The state government is also intent on introducing VSU. By doing so, it will rob students of a political voice. Student unions are there to defend student rights, provide essential services and support recreational, political and social groups.
