Support for Palestine, opposition to war in Iraq

CANBERRA — More than 160 people pledged their support for a free Palestine at a dinner on September 27. Obada Kayali spoke of the injustice committed against his people and Avigail Abarbanel, a Israeli citizen for 27 years, described how she had been convinced the occupation of Palestine was unjust.

On September 28 another 100 people rallied in Garema Place for Palestinian rights and against war on Iraq. The next rally will be at 5pm on October 11 at Petri Plaza in Civic.

Speak-out opposes war

BRISBANE — Around 100 people rallied on the steps of King George Square on September 27 to oppose the growing threat of war against the people of Iraq.

Speakers at the rally condemned the Bush administration for preparing another aggressive war on Iraq, demanding No Blood for Oil!

The speak-out was one of a series of actions being organised by the Brisbane Stop the War Coalition (BSTWC) to culminate in a rally and march as part of the national day of action on November 3. On Saturday October 5, there will be a rally in the King George Square at 12.30pm in solidarity with the peace bus leaving to protest the US base at Pine Gap.
