Rally for racial equality

MELBOURNE — Around 1000 people braved miserable weather to attend a rally in Victoria Gardens on August 24 organised by People for Racial Equality. The crowd was addressed by trade unionists and representatives from community and ethnic organisations. A planned march to Treasury Gardens was cancelled by the rally organisers because of the weather.

Women's forums planned

WOLLONGONG — Thirty women attended the Wollongong Women's Centre annual general meeting on August 27. A forum afterwards to discuss revitalising the women's movement was addressed by Shirley Nixon. A vigorous discussion about ways to involve more women in activities followed, and it was agreed to hold a series of forums on topics of interest.
