A few hundred people attended a moving silent ceremony at Sydney Town Hall on May 7 for Kumanjayi Little Baby, a five-year-old Warlpiri girl who lived in Mparntwe/Alice Springs.

The vigil was organised by Elizabeth Jarrett and Jackie Jarrett, who acknowledged country. Vigils were organised across the country on the same day for the child who was found on April 30.

A smoking ceremony was led Lynda June Coe. Jarrett said the families are suffering an unimaginable sorrow. “There is too much sorry business, not only in this country but all around the world. There are no words for moments like this.”

After dances from a number of children, a poem and a few songs, the vigil ended. Pink feathers, her favourite colour, were released by the dancers.
