Why
Join us for the Magandjin/Brisbane screening of Rising Tide’s new short film, Taking the Channel: the extraordinary tale of the biggest, boldest, most disruptive People’s Blockade yet.
With epic footage and powerful storytellers, this is the story of how thousands of everyday people go up against the multi-billion dollar coal industry in a powerful act of defiance.
A 17-year-old who will do anything to defend her future. A coal worker who knows the industry he works for is burning the planet. A climate scientist warning of a frightening trajectory. And a law-abiding grandmother finding courage to fight for future generations.
They come together at the world’s largest coal port for a courageous attempt to change the course of history.
Doors open at 6pm for dinner followed by the screening. Blind Boy Brewing will have a range of their unique craft beers available for sale till 7pm. After the film hear from a live panel who were there amongst it all and find out how you can get involved to be part of Rising Tide’s ambitious plans to dial up the fight.
RSVP today and connect with your local Rising Tide community, celebrate the extraordinary success of 2025 and learn more about the 2027 People’s Blockade this February, the BIGGEST & BOLDEST yet.
