Why
What do you think about the proposed nuclear submarine base in Port Kembla?
The government has proposed to build a nuclear submarine base in Port Kembla, without consulting with us about what it would mean for our community.
Nuclear submarines could put us at risk - putting a war target on our communities back, and taking over the port. Instead of investing in our community’s future, the Australian government is giving $368 billion to the US and UK for a deal that won't make us safer.
Join us for a community lunch and conversation about the proposal:
- Why has Port Kembla been chosen for the nuclear base?
- What would the impacts of a nuclear base be on Port Kembla?
- What future do we want for our community? How can we invest in the future of Port Kembla?
Details:
- Saturday October 10, 11am-2pm
- Port Kembla Senior Citizens Centre (Corner Allen St and Wentworth Lane)
- Please bring a plate to share if you can! We'll also have some food provided so come either way!
The Port Kembla Senior Citizens Centre meeting room is wheelchair accessible with no stairs, and a accessible toilet in the building. If you have any specific access requirements please get in touch with Maddy at [email protected].
