Dr Sue Wareham is a Canberra based former GP who is a long-standing office bearer, and currently President of the Medical Association for Prevention of War, where she has led numerous campaigns at local, national and international level. They emphasise the crucial role medical practitioners and other health workers can play in supporting peace initiatives at every level of activism - advocacy, research and education. About the Seminar
Dr Wareham will summarise the several, current major conflicts and their effects, immediate and longer term, in terms human, social and environmental and the responses required for their prevention and amelioration. She will highlight some of the challenges arising from the Gaza conflict and the Aukus Treaty, and the progress of the Treaty for the Prevention of Nuclear Weapons.
