Why
The Kurilpa Commons transformed many of us, nurturing new ways of thinking, knowing, doing, being, and relating.
Join us as we keep these gifts alive and come together to collectively grieve, and to celebrate the ways that the commons grew throughout its many years of struggle, and continues to grow within us.
This event will run from 3-7pm on Sunday the 20th of September. It will be held at Dutton Park Commons, 359 Gladstone Rd, Dutton Park — at the top of the hill, near the dog park.
The afternoon will include:
- open mic music, poetry, theatre
- the sharing of memories, and love for the special place and web of relationships that was the Kurilpa Commons
- art and craft activities
- games
- open art exhibition, bring along some art or poetry to include or make something on the day
- planting ceremony for a young Kurilpa Commons tree, salvaged from the destruction
- shared food
Bring a picnic rug/camp chair, and a plate of food to share if you can.
A public toilet is located a short walk down the hill. Local parking is available but may be scarce and will require a short walk to the site.
