Why
Seeking to create space for voices that have been silenced and devastated by the ongoing war in Gaza, A SPACE FOR WHAT CANNOT BE SAID warmly invites you to the opening night of a group exhibition and fundraiser featuring works by Palestinian artists in Gaza who have continued to create under devastating conditions.
This contemporary art exhibition centres the work of Palestinian artists and the realities of living under war and occupation, while also including a small number of Jewish artists working in solidarity and refusing to remain silent in the face of violence carried out in their name.
Palestinian artists: Alaa Al Shawa, Neama Jamal, Ahmed Adnan, Fatima Abu Owda, Mohammed Alhaj, Malaka Abu Owda, Rufaida Sehwail, Ahmed Muhanna.
Opening night: 4th July, 6-9pm
Exhibition open to public: 5th-12th July
Exploring themes of resistance, displacement, grief, memory, identity and survival through visual art, film and performance, the exhibition offers a space for witnessing, reflection and collective engagement.
Join us for a special evening of art, conversation, food and drinks, featuring:
- The Melbourne premiere screening of the short documentary Unchosen Ones
- Live music by Camille El Faghali
- An interactive collective ceremony
All artworks will be available for purchase, with proceeds from artwork sales supporting the participating artists in Gaza.
Registration is essential. Limited tickets will be available at the door.
Printing support generously provided by Final Grade.
