Why

The Keilor Downs College AEU sub-branch is encouraging AEU members to protest outside State Education Minister Ben Carroll's office.

The government and our union leadership need to hear loud and clear that education workers are determined to keep fighting for an agreement that delivers real improvements to our working conditions and living standards.

Our demands include:

  • Real workload relief through reduced class sizes & reduced face-to-face teaching hours.
  • Equal percentage pay rises for ALL teachers & Education Support staff, delivered as salary rather than allowances.
  • A catch-up pay rise now, and pay increases over the life of the agreement that clearly put our wages ahead of inflation.
  • Planning time for ES staff and paid lunch breaks.
  • A three-year agreement, not four years, so members can respond to changing economic conditions.
  • Full funding of the agreement in every public school across Victoria.

We're also calling on our union leadership to organise another state-wide 24-hour strike early in Term 3 to win these demands. This is how we turn up the heat and win.

Ben Carroll needs to come to the negotiating table prepared to fully fund public education and deliver the agreement that school staff deserve.

  • Rally at Ben Carroll's Office
  • Thursday 16 July, 4:45pm (Week 1, Term 3)
  • 441 Keilor Road, Niddrie.

Let's keep the voices of rank-and-file school staff front and centre.

How your sub-branch can help:

  1. Pass a motion endorsing the protest.
  2. Promote the rally to members at your school.
  3. Organise a contingent to attend with your sub-branch banner, placards and members.

Whether you're from a neighbouring school or the other side of Melbourne, we want to see you there on July 16!
