Why
On June 24, two devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela. Buildings have collapsed, leaving a trace of 2,000+ deaths and 50,000+ people missing, and those numbers keep rising as you read this. Thousands of families have lost their homes. Children and babies have lost their parents.
Tickets available from Humanitix.
Venezuela was not prepared, and the government failed to provide organisation and support to victims in the most critical hours. This is a catastrophe, and every bit of help counts.
On July 19, the Latin community in Melbourne is coming together at Misfits Bar in Footscray for a day party starting at 1PM. Expect a full afternoon of Latin sounds, Venezuelan food from Papelon, and a raffle packed with goods donated by the community. Ticket sales, raffle proceeds, and donations on the day go directly to Venezuelan foundations working on the ground right now.

Where your money goes
Ticket sales, raffle proceeds, and any donations made on the day will be split equally between two Venezuelan-founded organisations actively responding to the crisis on the ground. We chose these organisations deliberately, mid-size, Venezuelan-founded, and vetted by people on the ground, avoiding bureaucratic government black holes.
Sun.risas — Verified organisation of volunteers delivering emergency items, food, building rescue camps, and public kitchens to earthquake-affected zones. Transparent, fast-moving, and community-led. Reporting daily on the ground via Instagram.
Fundana (Fundación Amigos del Niño y la Familia) — Over 34 years supporting Venezuelan children and families in their most vulnerable moments, providing shelter. Unfortunately, shelter capacity can't cope with the number of children left without families by this catastrophe. They're on the ground and in hospitals identifying these kids and helping families in refugee camps.
Come for the music. Stay for the cause. Bring everyone you know.
